Essential oils are highly concentrated parts of plants that initially made up the plant’s “immune system.” They are comprised of hundreds of natural compounds that enhance physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being by minimizing symptoms and addressing root problems in our bodies.
At Awakened Living we believe that the quality of the essential oil will greatly affect the outcome. We have chosen Floracopeia essential oils due to their organic and wild-crafted properties. Here is what we know to be true about organic farming as it relates to essential oils, and all things that grow: The properties of protection that plants create (anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and many more) are done so in nature. If a growing plant is sprayed with chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, those chemicals will affect the plant’s ability to create its own protection because they do it for them. Therefore, if grown organically, the most potent forms of essential oils are created, much like how our own immune systems develop strength with exposure. Another benefit of organic is that the plant does not carry with it the chemicals of non-organic growth, so your final product is clean, chemical free, and carries with it the highest potency. When you look at wild-crafted essential oils, the same rules apply. To be wild-crafted is to be grown in nature and not farmed. So, no one is purposely applying chemicals to those plants either.
Safety and Efficacy
These oils are liquid and derived from many different parts of a plant, including roots, stems, petals, and leaves. They are turned into liquid form by a process called distillation. Distillation is an extremely important part of creating the oil and steam. It is generally the safest and most effective process, although certain oils such as citrus may be pressed. The process of retrieving the oil from the plant is important to the user, as some processes use chemicals or solvents to extract the oils, and these will mix with the oils to become a part of the product. Since oils are inhaled or topically applied in various ways, this means the chemicals can also be absorbed into your body.
Notice how we talk about chemicals a lot with this treatment. Essential oils are extremely effective to use as a healing agent on many levels. When oils are grown, distilled, or adulterated – which means chemicals are added after they are produced to create a larger batch – their healing properties are diminished and more stressors are put into the body. When oils are organic and used therapeutically, they can act as a natural facilitator of health and well-being without creating side effects.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not evaluated any of these statements. You should consult your practitioner or primary care physician before using essential oils on your own.
